Job description:
The Brookwood Community is currently accepting applications for Direct Support Professionals in providing direct care to our wonderful Citizens (residents). Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to human service, be compassionate, have a willingness to learn, and be a team player. Previous experience in nursing homes or home healthcare is helpful, but not required. We have full time and part time positions available. Candidates must meet all health requirements, including TB test, and pass background and driving checks. Most scheduled are SPLIT SHIFTS.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assist Citizens with their direct care needs including their personal hygiene, bathing, dressing and grooming.
Assist with preparation and serving of meals as directed, remaining ever mindful of those Citizens requiring special or prescribed diets.
Assist ambulatory Citizens with their transfer into and out of beds, wheelchairs, lavatories, and automobiles.
Perform housekeeping activities such as vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning windows in the to assure the home remains clean presentable at all times. Helps Citizens with their chores such as laundry, making their beds and straightening up their rooms.
Participate in leisure time activities both in and outside the home and, occasionally, on and off campus.
Perform a variety of miscellaneous duties as requested such as picking up food and household supplies and running errands necessary for the efficient operation of the home.
Accompany citizens outside the home, serving as guide, companion and aide.
Work safely and look after the safety of the Citizens and co-workers. Immediately report unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
